Are you a Social Worker who has a passion for working with older people? Do you have an interest in mental health? If so, apply to work at Salford Older Adults Community Mental Health Team. This is a part-time position.

To apply, you'll need to have a professional Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England. This is a permanent position with flexible working hours, Monday to Friday for 19.73 hours per week.

This position is open to recently qualified social workers, as well as experienced ones seeking a change in work/life balance.

You will be supported by our CMHT colleagues to develop your skills and experience within the field of mental health review and commissioning.

You will receive regular line management, clinical supervision, and peer supervision. We provide regular support and opportunities for CPD, which can be tailored to individual needs and areas of interest.

Staff wellbeing is important at Salford Older Adults CMHT, and we offer regular peer support groups, reflective practice groups, mindfulness, and other team activities.

Main duties of the job

You will review care and support needs for older adults with a range of mental health difficulties. Your responsibilities will include support planning, reviewing packages of care, and identifying and managing needs and associated risks while promoting rights and well-being. You will compile detailed and accurate support plans and other relevant documentation in accordance with the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act (2005), and Mental Health Act (1983). You will work within a multi-disciplinary team and have opportunities for collaboration and interagency working.

You will be part of a clear professional structure, operating with the support of the Advanced Practitioner for Social Work.

You will be provided with a full range of mandatory training and CPD opportunities, working alongside various agencies and developing your skills while supporting CMHT colleagues and students.

Person specification
  • Possession of a recognised Social Work qualification; Degree, CQSW, CSS, Dip SW or equivalent.
  • You must hold a current registration with Social Work England.
  • You must hold a full, current, and valid driving licence and have a vehicle with a current valid MOT certificate. You will also need adequate vehicle insurance cover.
  • To undertake social work functions in accordance with legislation, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • To be able to complete strength-based assessments, identify the need and urgency of the situation, and implement actions to meet needs and minimise risk.
  • To effectively safeguard vulnerable adults and carry out Section 42 enquiries.
  • To be accountable for your own workload by prioritising and monitoring your workload, completing timely assessments and support planning.
  • To have the ability to develop effective working relationships with the people you work with, their carers/families, and other professionals/colleagues.
  • To have a clear understanding of the social work role and work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • To maintain accurate, complete, accessible, and up-to-date records and reports which meet legal and policy frameworks.
  • Ability to keep your knowledge of legal, policy, and procedural frameworks and social work models up to date.
  • To support less experienced staff and mentor new staff and/or students across Adult Health and Social Care Services.
  • To engage in supervision as a tool to help manage your workload and improve practice.
