Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Application Support Engineer to join their dynamic ICT team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the applications development life cycle, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capability to work effectively under pressure. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to produce high-standard support documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced support for business-critical applications, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with business customers, software suppliers, and colleagues to resolve complex issues.
  • Manage incidents, requests, and change controls through the Service Desk.
  • Develop and maintain support documentation to a high standard.
  • Work independently and as part of a team within the wider ICT department.
  • Utilise a clear and logical approach to problem-solving in high-pressure situations.
  • Handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
Technical Skills
  • Key Databases: Microsoft SQL Server 20xx, SSMS
  • Key Languages: DOS, PowerShell, SQL, T-SQL
  • Key Tools: Windows 10 / Windows 11, Windows 20xx Server, Office 365 including Power BI and SharePoint, Microsoft IIS, FTP / SFTP
  • Key Applications: Service Desk (handling of Incidents, Requests, and Change Controls)
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification or experience.
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in application support or a similar role.
