Job description

Housekeeper

Location: Bognor Regis

Hours: Part Time, 25 hours per week

Salary: A£12.60 per hour (Weekdays), A£13.60 (Weekends), and A£14.60 (Overtime)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., with one weekend shift every four weeks.

Our clients, who are a well-regarded residential care home in Felpham, are seeking a dedicated and conscientious Housekeeper to join their hardworking team.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and comfort throughout the home, helping to ensure the residents live in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.

Please note: Due to the nature of substances used under COSHH regulations, applicants must be aged 21 or over.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of resident rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and laundry facilities.
  2. Use appropriate cleaning products and equipment, observing COSHH guidelines at all times.
  3. Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) standards are upheld, including the use of fogging equipment when necessary.
  4. Organise and manage laundry duties: washing, drying, ironing, and distribution.
  5. Respond courteously to residents' requests and support a homely, respectful environment.
  6. Report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  7. Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and managers.
  8. Assist with stock control of cleaning supplies and maintain equipment in good order.
  9. Be aware of and follow emergency procedures, including Fire Safety protocols.
  10. Comply with all safeguarding procedures and confidentiality requirements.
  11. Complete mandatory training and any additional training as required.
  12. Work independently and proactively, contributing to the overall wellbeing of the home.

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (preferably in a care or healthcare setting).
  2. A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. A respectful, empathetic, and professional approach towards residents.
  5. Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  6. Physical capability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and using cleaning equipment.
  7. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
