Job description

Climax Studios was established nearly 30 years ago, we have an extensive history in developing all kinds of digital experiences across all formats, and we have won multiple awards along the way.

We are looking for an experienced and talented, UK based Lighting Artist with the ability to conceive, create and contribute to the team creating innovative experiences via artistic visuals and you'll be based out of our new Edinburgh studio based in the heart of the city overlooking the historic castle.

Responsibilities
  1. To work with our design and technical art teams to create balanced and atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
  2. Understand the composition and the ability to enhance game environments and locations through lighting.
  3. Create lighting related visual and post effects.
  4. Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimization.
  5. To enhance the project's mood and tell stories through lighting.
Requirements
  1. Experience using Maya.
  2. Extensive experience using Unreal 4 / 5.
  3. Extensive experience of 2D packages such as Photoshop/Substance.
  4. A solid understanding of Shaders and materials.
  5. A minimum of 2 years of lighting experience on a AAA project.
  6. Knowledge in a variety of baked and real-time lighting methods.
  7. Strong Environment or Tech art background.
  8. Creative and self-motivated.
  9. Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills.
  10. An artistic education to at least graduate level.
  11. Strong folio including examples of realistic modelling and environment.
