Job description

Are you an experienced construction worker with a HGV Class 2 licence looking for your next challenge?

Are you NRSWA accredited, like working outdoors, and have some experience in simple groundworks and installation?

If you’re someone who can learn on the job and turn your hand to various manual tasks, then this role could be what you are looking for.

Who are we?

Clear Channel UK are a leading Out of Home media owner, operating more than 33,000 advertising sites nationwide. We are a friendly and culture led company who value and support our employees to be the best they can be. We also care about the communities we work with and the environment too!

A few years ago, we brought the construction of our advertising sites in house. Since then, the team have been extremely successful in delivering hundreds of site builds, including our newest digital units, billboards and large Storm installations.

We’re excited to be working on some interesting projects this year and are now looking for a Construction Operative to join our growing team in Birmingham.

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working as part of a two-person crew, spending most of your day breaking up ground and replacing / installing new digital units and bus shelters for our local communities. You’ll have access to a HGV Class 2 vehicle to help you do this.

This role will involve travelling to sites (roadsides and public areas) in Birmingham and the surrounding areas, plus occasional travel further afield and some night working dependent upon business needs - sufficient notice will be given with lodgings and reasonable overnight expenses provided.

You’ll receive an attractive salary of £37,000, annual bonus, paid annual leave 25 days plus bank holidays, opportunities for flexible working, training and development and fully expensed tools and PPE.

You’ll be required to commute to and from the Birmingham depot independently and at times you may be required to work a night shift which will be paid at a premium rate.

It’s a physically demanding role which requires you to work at height, mainly using a small step ladder, so you’ll need to be a team player and watch/help out your crew partner.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Transport digital units from the depot to the installation site via a HGV truck.
  • Break ground and install digital units.
  • Replace component level parts on digital units.
  • Follow the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015.
  • Make sure traffic management is in place before starting work with segregation/prevention measures to prevent unauthorised people within your working area.
  • Follow our Health and Safety policy and the site-specific risk assessments and method statements.
  • Correctly use equipment (including working at height), maintain and keep tools/equipment safe on site.

Knowledge, Experience and Attributes:

  • Full driving licence with no more than 3 points
  • Class 2 HGV licence
  • CPCS A36 Lorry loader hook [novice or above]
  • CPCS Slinger
  • Competency in CAT use.
  • NRSWA accreditation to Operative standard
  • CDM knowledge
  • Excavation and sub-structure knowledge
  • Understanding of RAMS
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Competency in use of power tools such as Hydraulic breakers and Disc Saws

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary of £37,000 per annum
  • Annual bonus up to 8% of your annual salary
  • 33 days holiday inc. bank holidays
  • Company Pension Scheme matched to 8%
  • Life Insurance and Income Protection scheme
  • Healthcare Cash Plan
  • Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loans and a whole host of discounts across 100s of retailers
  • Social events
  • Volunteering days
  • Employee Discounts across hundreds of retailers
