Trainee Field Service Engineer – Start Your Career in Engineering!


Location: Mobile Role (Customer Sites)


Salary: Starting on minimum wage with progression to £40k + upon qualification


Hours: Monday – Friday, 07:00 am – 15:30 pm + Overtime & Company Benefits

My client specialises in maintaining and repairing cutting-edge material handling equipment within the parcel handling industry. As a trainee, you’ll work alongside their skilled engineers, gaining valuable hands-on experience in servicing, maintaining, and repairing conveyor and sortation systems. On offer is a structured progression plan designed to help you achieve an NVQ Level 3 Electromechanical Qualification while building a long-term career.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Travelling to customer sites to assist in servicing and repairs.
  2. Learning to maintain conveyor and sortation systems.
  3. Working alongside experienced engineers to develop hands-on skills.
  4. Following structured training with clear career progression milestones.
  5. Gaining qualifications while earning a competitive salary.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. Minimum Qualifications:
  2. GCSEs in English and Science (Grades 9-4) and Maths (Grade 9-5).
  3. One additional GCSE (Grade 9-4).
  4. Desirable Qualifications:
  5. NVQ or BTEC Level 2 (or higher) in an Engineering-related subject.
  6. Studies in Engineering, Physics, or Design & Technology are a plus.
  7. A keen interest in engineering with a hands-on approach.
  8. Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced environment.

Please note - for this role, you must already hold a full UK Drivers Licence.


Your Career Path & Earning Potential:

  1. 0-6 months: Learn safety procedures (LOTO), shadow engineers, and complete initial training.
  2. 6-12 months: Start college courses and gain hands-on servicing experience.
  3. 12-24 months: Progress through NVQ Level 3 qualification with salary reviews.
  4. 24-36 months: Become a fully qualified Field Service Engineer with a final salary package of over £43k, including on-call allowances.
