This job vacancy is for both Mewscraft, a fast paced high-end design-led company specialising in commercial design and refurbishment services, and our sister company, Monnow Interiors, which specialises in the residential sector. We provide a full design and refurbishment service, including 3D design, custom furniture design and manufacture, and turnkey solutions. With our commitment to high standards of craftsmanship, design and customer service, we have built a strong reputation in the optical industry. Our offices and design studio are in a recently refurbished building in Monmouth Town centre.
Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Mid-Weight Interior Designer. We are looking for an Interior Designer who can manage the entire creative process and project management. As a mid-weight designer you will carry out site visits and surveys, space planning, mood boards, construction drawings for contractors use, project management and specification of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). The candidate will work closely with clients, contractors and team members to ensure the successful completion of projects. Good communication skills are essential.
The role will include
- Working in a small team on 4-6 projects at any time
- Site surveys and initial client meetings
- Developing material schemes and mood boards
- Creation of high quality 3D visualisations. This is usually done on 3D AutoCAD or Revit.
- Producing bespoke furniture drawings
- Putting together client presentations
- Creating full project costing quotations and budgets
- Sourcing FF&E
- Project management
- Working with contractors and suppliers to ensure the design and quality are executed as per the specification and to the highest standard
- Coordinating all aspects of the design and refurbishment process
- Working closely with the Senior Interior Designer
- Being a valued team member, based in our studio in Monmouth. Please note this is not a remote-working role.
- Office responsibilities include managing social media platforms, creating and sending Mailchimp campaigns, and handling general administrative tasks
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong skills in Space Planning and Construction Drawings
- At least 3 years of experience in Interior Design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D & 3D. Experience in Revit would be prefered
- Proficiency in the Adobe suite
- Knowledge of current design trends and industry standards
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work quickly, efficiently and within project timelines
- Experience in retail design and commercial projects would be helpful
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Clean driving license

The office hours are 9-5h30 pm with a flexible lunch break.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £24,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
