We are delighted to be working alongside our established, specialist and friendly client as they seek to recruit an additional Instrument Technician on a full-time permanent basis. Instrument Technician

Full Time Permanent role
Monday - Friday 37 hours per week
Workplace based close to Lewes
Salary £30000-£32000 plus very good company benefits.

Due to workplace location, it is essential to be a driver and have your own transport. Plenty of free parking on site.

The Role:

This is an exciting role in a progressive manufacturing company. You will be working with a highly skilled and motivated team that is keen on developing best practice assembly and test techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. This job involves working at a bench as part of a small team to assemble high-quality instruments from kits of parts.
  2. Responsible for all aspects of the instrument build including final inspection and testing upon completion.
  3. The repair of product and occasionally the installation of customer-owned instruments both in-house and at customer sites.
  4. The testing and calibration of the finished product.
  5. Occasional travel may be requested once relevant product knowledge and experience has been gained.

Qualifications and Education Experience Required:

  1. A good general level of education evidenced by O-level/ good GCSE passes or equivalent in English, Maths, and one Science subject.
  2. Either at least significant demonstrable experience in a relevant occupation, or HNC/HND in a mechanical or electrical subject with relevant working experience.

Key Skills and Competencies Required:

  1. Electro-mechanical Assembly and Test background in a relevant industry.
  2. Experience gained within an electro-mechanical system build manufacturing business.
  3. Good levels of fault-finding ability using circuit diagrams.
  4. Electrical and electronic test experience.
  5. Good colour perception, ability to pass colour perception test.
  6. Ability to sit/stand for long periods is required.
  7. Assisting with packing/unpacking products will require bending, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment.
  8. Manual dexterity combined with the ability to use hand and power tools.
  9. Ability to fit and shape metal components, including the construction of small-bore piping and the filing, drilling, and grinding of metal parts.
  10. Ability to achieve set targets and work to production time pressures in support of company requirements.
  11. Ability to use electrical test equipment, including multi-meters.
  12. Strong time management and prioritisation capabilities.
