Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Manager to join our team here at Leonardo Edinburgh. This is to look after a growing sector within our business at Edinburgh.

We are at an exciting stage in our journey within Quality; this role will provide a platform to allow you to shape the role and use your Quality Management skills.

Working in partnership with the Sector VP, Programme and Project Managers to:

  • Identify the specific Sector and Programme risks, threats and opportunities that the Quality Manager will manage and support.
  • Agree Project Assurance Plans (PAP) at both the Programme and Project level defining project assurance activities aligned to Risk, Opportunity and Improvement to support the Programme and associated Projects.
  • Provide support on other traditional contributions from the Quality Manager, for example:
  • Management of Customer complaints.
  • Defect management including Management plan for the continued reduction in the cost of failure utilizing continuous improvement tools, techniques, and reporting.
  • Focused and targeted internal assessment plan.
  • Establish and maintain a set of performance KPIs.
  • Create, agree, and deliver KPIs to be used to review and inform decision making.
  • Attendance and contribution at Sector, Programme, and IPT meetings.
  • To deliver programme specific assessment plans which help the Programme Manager focus on and resolve Programme risk and realize opportunities.
  • To ensure the provision of Assurance expertise and capability to the various projects and programmes.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Integration with our project teams and creation and development of Quality Plans.
  • Continuous improvement: problem-solving technique risk analysis.
  • Effective root cause analysis, using industry standard tools.
  • Quality toolbox experience: Auditing, RC, QualityFlow downs, data analysis.
  • Relevant experience within the business sector.
  • Budget management, in relation to resources and project support.
  • Ensure team development to meet the business needs which will include setting L&D priorities to support the development of a high performing team and culture.
  • Personally coach, mentor, and manage all direct reports (Engineers and Specialists) and act as a role model for appropriate behaviours.

Manage of Key Performance Indicators:

  • Operating in line with the requirements of the Operational Framework.
  • Successful management of Programme and Project Risks, threats and opportunities to reduce impact on Sector, Programmes and IPTs.
  • Leading Assurance Teams in order to meet Sector, Programme, and IPT objectives.
  • Leading Assurance function improvement plans across all phases of the Programme, Product, and Project Lifecycle.
  • Mentoring and coaching in order to grow Quality excellence within the Sector.
  • Application of interpersonal skills to positively influence behaviours within Quality at individual and team level.
  • Representing the Quality Function at a senior level with Sector customers and suppliers.
  • Achievement of project assurance milestones within the Programme, Product, and Project lifecycle.
  • Reduction in Sector Non-Conformance costs and implementation of a root cause and corrective action culture to reduce impact on Sector Program.
