Job description

Location: Rotherham

It’s time to think about something different. How you can use the skills you already have to take you in a totally different direction and give you a rewarding career you can be proud of. How exciting it would be to make something world-class, what it would be like to work with advanced technology. You’ve probably never thought Rolls-Royce was for you – it’s time to change that thinking.

Become an Operations Team Member

At our Advanced Blade Casting Facility (ABCF), we make critical turbine blades that go into our world-leading jet engines. It means we’re at the cutting-edge of casting and automated technology. So, forget what you think you know about ‘factory’ environments – this is a high-tech, modern space you’ll enjoy being in every day.

We use a casting process and you’ll be fully trained to do many of the tasks that this involves. Following technical instructions – much like a recipe or a manual for setting up a new TV – you’ll craft patterns in wax ready for casting, operate high-tech robotic machinery, measure and check blades for defects, and gather data using digital apps. There’s a lot of attention to detail involved, but there’s also plenty of variety in what you do each day and a great sense of achievement at the end of it.

Maybe you already do a job that’s all about following processes, like being a cook or a beauty technician. Or maybe you’re into arts, crafts, DIY, or making things like models in your own time that takes an eye for detail. Or you’re someone who is used to using apps and tech. All these skills are really valuable to us.

So, it doesn’t matter what qualifications you have – everything else, we’re here to show you.

You’ll get our full support and expert training to become a capable and confident Operations Team Member. And along with excellent rewards and benefits, there is the opportunity to progress to a basic salary of £38,784 plus £6,300 shift allowance per year.

If you like the idea of a job that gives you fantastic colleagues, great rewards, and the opportunity to play a part in our world-leading work – it’s time to apply.

Is this role for you?

Yes, if you’re the kind of person who:

  • can follow processes and detailed instructions.
  • works really well in a team.
  • always looks for ways to improve.
  • is dependable, adaptable and safety conscious.
  • is comfortable working a mix of day and night shifts.

What’s more important than anything, however, is that you’re ready to take on a new challenge and are eager to learn.

What you’ll get

  • Great salary and benefits

On top of your salary and equivalent of 33 days’ holiday a year, you’ll get generous pension contributions (up to 12%), access to employee support assistance and employee discounts, free parking, and excellent on-site facilities. Plus, much more.

  • Excellent development and progression

We’re here to help you succeed. You’ll receive comprehensive training to help you learn all the skills you need. Plus, you’ll benefit from all the long-term opportunities that come from being part of an industry-leading company like Rolls-Royce.

  • Plenty of support throughout

Alongside your managers and teammates, there are many other sources of support for you to tap into. This includes our employee networks for families and carers, LGBTQ+, multi-faith groups, disabilities, neurodiversity and more. There’s also our Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions and the hundreds of skills you can learn in your own time through our online tools.

Some of the other benefits include:

  • a choice of voluntary benefits including free digital GP, discounted healthcare, dental care, life insurance, Cycle to Work scheme, and more.
  • employee discounts at nationwide stores and gyms plus cash back on your spending through our TotalReward portal.
  • the opportunity to be part of our share scheme.
  • on-site restaurant and gym, with changing facilities and showers.
  • access to an independent, 24-hour, confidential counselling service.

How to apply

It's easy to apply. Just click apply and complete our online application form. It's a simple form where we'll ask you about you, your life experiences and things you enjoy, and about your interest in the role and Rolls-Royce. Team working is important to this role, so we'll also ask you about where you have done this, in or outside of work. A CV is optional as we know you might not have one and we're more interested in potential.

If we think you should move on to the next phase, we’ll call you to find out more about you. The final stage is a face-to-face assessment, lasting half a day at our site in Rotherham. Visit career.rolls-royce.com/Rotherham to learn more about it.
