Job description

Senior Ecologist

RPS is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our team, part of the wider UK Environment Division. We deliver numerous renewable energy project inputs, including ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys and studies, other protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring. RPS is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy, and we specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping the future of our environmental, social and economic landscapes.

What you'll be doing

You will have the opportunity to benefit from an exciting and diverse workload, delivering high quality support for private and public-sector clients across the UK including exciting infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

You'll be:
  1. Planning and undertaking habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff and survey effort to identify key receptors, constraints and opportunities to developments.
  2. Writing and delivering Technical Reports, EcIA, ES chapter, inputting into HRA reports, and design and implement mitigation and compensation measures to meet the requirements of NPF4.
  3. Undertaking the management of the financial aspects of projects, with the support of senior management.
  4. Working with senior management and clients to generate new work streams and providing input to and leading tenders for new work.

There will be travel involved so you will need to have a full UK driving licence.

Who we're looking for
  1. Full membership of CIEEM and have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  2. Experience of writing and delivering Breadth of ECoW on a range of projects and understand the process of preparing and implementing EPS and other licence applications.
  3. You may be an experienced EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or preferably 2 bat or other species) and have full knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques.
  4. Good time and project management skills are a must as are sound influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.
