As the Associate Director, Oncology Portfolio for the US Medical Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA), you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and tracking US Oncology professional society engagement and congress plans, while establishing and maintaining strong relationships between GSK and US-based professional healthcare organizations. In this role, you will establish and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key professional organizations, and drive execution of congress plans that will enable GSK to establish its position as a leader in Oncology.

- Lead cross-organizational congress planning teams to define congress attendance (i.e. type of exhibit, symposia, etc.) and ensure planning, development, and execution based on the USMA objectives and needs, in line with all compliance, SOPs, GSK standards and LOC standards. Identify/work to resolve any specific challenges/issues with plans and provide guidance and recommendations on the role congresses can play in achieving strategic objectives.
- Project manage GSK’s Medical presence at US congresses to ensure successful on-site delivery.
- Act as a trusted business partner to the Oncology Global Team and US Pharma to drive continuous improvement by introducing innovative ideas and identifying better ways to creatively streamline events and congresses and align congresses as part of the broader multi-channel strategy.
- Contribute to efforts that support US scientific engagement between GSK and external communities in order to advance scientific and medical understanding including the appropriate development and use of our medicines, the management of disease, and patient care.
- Provide support for omnichannel tactics/customer journeys in collaboration with the US medical communication team.
- Provide input to the USMA annual strategic planning process as an integral member of the cross-organizational teams that define the role of congresses/professional society engagement in supporting Oncology TA strategic goals.
- Manage third-party vendors and agencies to ensure all necessary contracts are negotiated and in place, they are compliant with the relevant code of practice requirements, and they deliver at or above expectations at events.
- Support portfolio-level medical tactics; contribute to medical material development, communication plans, and application of customer insights as relevant to the role.
- Support for execution and ongoing evaluation of the Oncology Professional Society Engagement plan, including funding of Memberships, Sponsorships, and Congresses in collaboration with Medicine Leads and the Medical Communication team. This includes budget development, monitoring, processing through internal approvals and funding committees, revising spending as needed, and executional tracking.
- Develop and manage relationships with Professional Societies and/or Congress Organizers to ensure GSK is best positioned for engagement and attendance at national events.
Why You?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Master’s Degree in related field, or PharmD, PhD, nursing, allied health professional (eg, epidemiology) or other scientific degree.
- 2 or more years of Pharmaceutical Industry Experience.
- Experience working in the Oncology therapeutic area.
- Experience leading cross-organizational congress planning teams to define congress attendance (i.e. type of exhibit, symposia, etc.) and ensure planning, development, and execution based on the USMA objectives.
- Experience in leading, managing and working collaboratively with internal and external cross-functional teams, with or without authority.
- Experience working in a large matrix environment.
- Experience with successfully planning, managing, and executing large, cross-functional, medical programs and/or initiatives such as medical congresses.
- Experience working in Smartsheet + basic Microsoft 365 (Outlook, OneNote, Teams, Office).
