Job description

Our client in beautiful Lancashire is looking for a full-time farm and equine vet to join their team on a permanent basis.

This first opinion mixed practice runs its farm and equine department in a beautiful barn conversion close to the Ribble Valley, while the small animal department is kept totally separate at a nearby location. The practice has 3 Clinical Directors across the group and employs around 80 staff in total.

The farm and equine team are looking for a full-time Vet to join their friendly and professional clinical team, where the split is roughly 50/50 farm and equine; however, personal interests are encouraged.

This is a well-established practice providing great job security, a good work-life balance, and up to 38 days of holiday a year, with a holiday buy-back scheme for those who love to travel. You would enjoy excellent support and backup from the well-established clinical and support teams, with weekly team meetings to ensure all staff can contribute to the practice's success.

The OOH rota is 2 in 5 weekends; the first weekend will see you on call on Friday night first and working Saturday morning, then from 12 noon, you will be second on call until Monday morning. The second weekend you will be on call Friday night and first on call Saturday and Sunday (i.e., a full weekend), followed by 3 totally undisturbed weekends. The normal week is 4.5 days, working 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, with one weekday night on call. The week following a full weekend on duty, you get an extra half day off on the Friday.

This is a growing practice, and as they employ more Vets, this rota will only improve. The team can offer a degree of flexibility to their ideal 4.5-day week, and options and ideas can be explored and discussed. Salary is competitive, negotiable, and commensurate with experience. The salary range will be between £32,000 for a new graduate and up to £55,000 for a full-time experienced Vet. Certificate holders may receive an enhanced salary. In addition to your salary, you will also receive a generous CPD allowance of £1,750 per annum, and certificates are encouraged with a higher CPD budget given, plus a four-wheel drive, laptop, and mobile phone. The practice also has several apartments available for anyone looking to move to the area.

The surgery is set in a beautiful rural location in a stunning barn conversion. The surrounding area offers a wide variety of leisure activities, and you are never more than a few minutes away from amazing and beautiful countryside. For walking and hiking enthusiasts, the practice is situated in the north east of Lancashire, nestled between the Ribble Valley and the Pennine Way. Pendle is a largely rural area dominated by the iconic Pendle Hill. The Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty, is on the doorstep, and the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and Bronte Country are all within easy reach. For people who enjoy city life, the vibrant cities of Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds are within easy reach by road or public transport and offer excellent shopping and nightlife. The location is well connected with good access to the motorway network, railways, and major airports.
