Do you have experience and knowledge of working in a stock management/planning environment, with experience of sales analysis and forecasting? Could you provide commercial analysis of suppliers, ranges and products to identify risks and opportunities for our retail teams?
The Science Museum Group (SMG) consists of five National museums each with shops and online stores, with an annual turnover in excess of £5million. SMG stock a wide range of product categories including toys, homewares, apparel and food.
We are now recruiting for a Junior Merchandiser to join on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role, working 35 hours per week and is based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working available.
As Junior Merchandiser your role is to ensure that all sites have commercial ranges relevant to their customers and adequately stocked to achieve the sales plan, while managing inventory within agreed stock targets.
You will analyse and interpret data and reports to provide commercial analysis of suppliers, ranges, products and promotions, proposing recommendations to the team. You will review current trade and historical performance to identify risks and opportunities in future product ranges.
You will manage the Assistant Merchandiser and Merchandise Assistant and will be coaching and developing them and ensuring they are delivering stock to stores in line with departmental plans. You will be maintaining a good awareness of product performance by channel and market, identifying risks and opportunities to drive maximum profit whilst minimising terminal stocks and taking appropriate action in conjunction with the relevant teams.
Joining us, you will have experience and knowledge of working in a stock management/planning environment, with experience of sales analysis and forecasting. You will be able to deliver results and meet ideal targets, with consideration of commercial objectives.
Crucially, you will have good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks, whilst retaining a high level of accuracy. You will be able to work autonomously and use your initiative to think creatively and provide solutions to problems. You will be able to motivate and encourage your team, using your good communication skills to build relationships and work well with others.
Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match directly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
