The school offers exceptional facilities and is located in a picture-perfect village, near the Cotswolds and Oxford. There is an opportunity for a CELTA/Trinity/PGCE (English/Primary/MFL), plus first degree, qualified teacher to be part of our fun, rewarding summer school programme. At least one year's experience is required. New staff will be supported by an experienced director of studies, senior teacher and friendly team. Professional development sessions are held each course for teachers and international group leaders, in which we share best practice and teaching ideas. ISC, founded in 1997, has a welcoming, professional and supportive environment, with staff, leaders and students returning year after year. We run one summer school in one location and aim to deliver high-quality courses and levels of care. We are proud to have a strong BC report including strengths in teaching, course design and care of under 18s. We value our team at ISC and believe that having the right team and working environment is key to maintaining our high standards and delivering excellent courses to our students. ISC offers an excellent General English Programme and General English+ Courses that include a full, daily activity programme and excursions. We were delighted to receive record student feedback in 2024, with 98.2% of our students rating their experience as good/excellent.

We offer teaching competitive salaries from £600 p/w + full-board accommodation (equivalent to £74.62/wk) + accrued holiday pay. Use of the gym/facilities, yoga/swimming sessions and social events. Successful applicants will join our team of around 10-12 teachers & 20 activity leaders.

Role and Responsibilities

The safety of students and staff is paramount. You will be expected to follow our Health and Safety and Safeguarding guidelines and to exercise careful judgement in providing a safe environment at all times. Your primary responsibility is to work under the guidance of the director of studies and senior teacher to deliver the highest quality of teaching possible. You will be responsible for planning interesting, interactive lessons using the ISC syllabus, ensuring that students have as much spoken practice as possible. Staff must also complete weekly teaching paperwork. ISC course plans and materials have been devised for all levels to help reduce preparation time. Teachers are welcome to use our course plans or tailor them to meet their students' needs, using their own material or using our resource library. You are also responsible for assisting in the smooth running of the activities and excursions programme, with support from the activity director and assistant activity director. Twice weekly pastoral duties are carried out on a rota basis. Staff live on campus in one of Bloxham's homely boarding houses and are roomed in single bedrooms. An experienced head of house has overall responsibility for the general running of the boarding houses. New teaching staff will benefit from the experience and support of our friendly team.

Safer Recruitment

You will be asked to provide an Enhanced DBS disclosure, and if appropriate an overseas background check, confirming your suitability to work with children, and be asked to sign a declaration to that effect. Copies of qualifications and documentation will be required initially, but originals must be made available for inspection before taking up the post. Offers of employment are subject to satisfactory references. All references will be followed up without exception. Referees will be asked specifically if there is any reason why you should not be allowed to work with under 18s. Every prospective employee must provide original, documentary proof (e.g. passport/work permit) of their right to work in the UK. We commit a criminal offence if we do not ask for, see and satisfy ourselves as to the validity of documents offered for this purpose. ISC carries out and pays for an Enhanced DBS check for all staff.
