The Role

The Network Manager is responsible for planning and managing the deployment of capacity across a portfolio of bases with the objective of maximising long-term profitability. You will oversee easyJet’s portfolio of routes across your bases with a planning horizon ranging from three weeks before operation to two to three years into the future. The role will report into the Lead Network Manager.

You will also be responsible for developing and executing the airline’s network strategy in the bases, analysing various performance drivers, including economic trends, competitor activity, route attractiveness, and costs. You will work closely with colleagues and ensure the strategy is effectively communicated and adjusted as needed. A key part of the role is monitoring trading and making capacity modifications, as capacity allocation is crucial to the airline’s commercial success.

How you will do it:

You will produce a clear Network strategy at each of your bases and at a country level and will be responsible for driving improvement in profitability via detailed and robust recommendations for each season’s schedule build, followed up by capacity adjustments as necessary including through annual thinning processes.

As a Network Manager you will have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects and drivers of performance at the country, base and route level to support network and other commercial decisions. You will track and understand the evolution of demand at all levels to identify opportunities and risks (both long and short term), including:

  1. Understanding the catchment profile
  2. Segmenting demand by relevant customer segments
  3. Optimising timings and frequencies
  4. For every route, understanding of the market pair and airport pair, including customer directionality / profile
  5. Working with the CRM /Insights team to monitor the local customer lifecycle, demographics and geography

Balance investment in capacity growth between self-diluting on profitable routes, competitive investment, and new routes / markets to maximise contribution over the short and long term.

On an ad hoc basis provide recommendations for actions to respond to competitor entry or other unforeseen events which require a change in strategy by easyJet.

Support and provide analysis for long-term aircraft allocation decisions.

Provide cross-functional support to key stakeholders (e.g. country team, trading) when and where relevant.

Ensure other functions (e.g. Scheduling, Airport Procurement) have clear visibility and understanding of the likely development of a base and their role in driving performance.

What you will need to do the role:

  1. Ideally you will have a proven track record of success in commercial or planning roles in an airline setting with the confidence to use judgement to make decisions in the face of uncertainty whilst being inquisitive, with an aptitude for analytical problem-solving.
  2. You will be supported by a numerate background and will have strength in modelling and analysis of complex and diverse data sets - You will need to be proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint to enable you to clearly and effectively deliver messages to the business.
  3. You will also have strong stakeholder management, influencing and presentation skills which will provide you with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to improve performance and get things done.

What you’ll get in return:

  1. Competitive base salary
  2. Up to 20% bonus
  3. 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with opportunity to buy 5 additional days leave after 12 months in role
  4. BAYE, SAYE & Performance share schemes
