Job description

Job Title: Ward Manager
Specialty: Rehabilitation
Location: Reading
Salary: £45,000 plus benefits

We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to join a 13-bed service based in Reading. This full-time permanent position is based in a rehabilitation centre providing support for individuals with schizophrenia including treatment-resistant, schizoaffective disorder, depression and anxiety.

The role is available to start as soon as possible but can accommodate notice periods of up to 8 weeks. The position offers a competitive salary of £45,000 plus benefits. The role will be predominantly Monday to Friday; the occasional weekend and/or night working may be required to provide supervision to the night staff. The post holder is expected to participate in the on-call rota for the service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and develop a highly skilled and motivated workforce through recruitment, selection, development and performance management processes.
  2. Ensure the effective and efficient management and control of staffing, budgets, materials and equipment.
  3. Promote an effective working relationship across the multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Contribute to the development of the company policies, procedures, processes and initiatives.
  5. Ensure clinical services comply with statutory regulations and current legislation, meet quality standards and deliver against key performance indicators.
  6. Manage the effective implementation of clinical interventions and treatment designed to enhance the operation and quality of clinical services evaluating through clinical governance and audit.

Requirements:

  1. A relevant professional qualification
  2. A recognised post registration qualification together with full membership of NMC
  3. At least 2 years of managerial experience within a care setting
  4. To be highly organised and perform well under pressure
  5. A strong desire for change and innovation
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
