Job description

Futures are supporting a Lighting Controls business as it launches a new product range into the UK and EU Commercial Lighting markets. The business will be continuing the expansion of an existing Lighting Controls manufacturer with a long trading history overseas. The business has won numerous high-profile commercial contracts producing highly reliable and flexible lighting control systems, using open protocol controls and APIs to offer maximum flexibility, compatibility, and performance.

We’re seeking a UK and European Sales Manager with a proven track record in Lighting Industry sales. You will understand the various potential routes to market for commercial lighting controls, having supplied similar solutions into the commercial property sector, public sector, entertainment industry, industrial, and civil engineering sectors. You can also engage with Mechanical / Electrical Contractors, LED / Lighting Manufacturers, and M&E Design Consultancies.

We are seeking a consultative sales manager with a technical understanding of the lighting industry, who can support businesses with a solutions-based sales approach. You’ll be supported by an established engineering and sales support team in the Midlands, working remotely to engage with potential customers across the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Increase sales by identifying and cultivating new customers in the lighting controls industry.
  2. Develop a strategic sales plan for the business which will align closely to the company’s growth plans and capability.
  3. Demonstrate regular outbound promotional activities, consistent engagement with key decision-makers in relevant industry sectors, regular face-to-face presentations of company capability.
  4. Deliver consistent, consultative, solutions-focused sales activities.
  5. Foster and sustain strong relationships with existing clients and key industry stakeholders.
  6. Prepare precise and competitive quotations for lighting control projects.
  7. Engage in marketing initiatives to enhance the company's presence in the lighting sector including attendance at trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events.
  8. Keep detailed and up-to-date records of opportunities and customer interactions.
  9. Deliver clear and effective communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  10. Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless project handovers and successful execution.
  11. Provide regular project updates while delivering outstanding customer service.
Skills and Experience
  1. Essential: Previous experience in sales within the lighting control systems industry.
  2. Track Record: Proven success in sales, consistently meeting or exceeding targets.
  3. Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with key decision-makers.
  4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), good all-round IT and communication skills.
  5. Professionalism: Well-presented, proactive, and highly organized in task management.
  6. Technical Knowledge: An engineering background or expertise in lighting controls is a plus.
  7. Work Ethic: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Flexibility: Willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.
