Job description

Ambition is partnering with a fast-growing mid-tier audit firm seeking an Audit Assistant Manager for their corporate audit team in London. This firm is one of the few in this space that has shown strong growth over the past 12 months and is set to continue this trend in 2025, providing ample opportunities for progression.

In this role, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of clients, from large listed corporates to privately owned companies. One of the highlights of this team is the variety of experiences you will encounter. You will play a crucial role in advising smaller clients who may lack established structures, while also working with large corporates and listed businesses, including FTSE, LSE, and AIM listed clients.

The firm offers excellent flexibility with core hours, remote working options, and a favourable work-life balance compared to larger firms. Promotions are based on merit rather than tenure, with numerous examples of rapid advancement shortly after joining the firm. To support this growth, the firm provides training in both soft skills and technical expertise. As the firm continues to expand, new roles frequently open up through client wins, meaning you won't have to wait for someone to leave to be promoted. With promotion cycles occurring twice a year, your career progression is very much in your hands.

Duties include:

  1. Attend pre-assignment discussions with the audit team.
  2. Allocate work to junior members of the audit team.
  3. Provide on-the-job training to junior staff, review their work, and provide feedback.
  4. Work to plan and budget.
  5. Advise the manager.
  6. Suggest logical solutions to problems.
  7. Prepare a detailed assignment memorandum incorporating appropriate analytical review.
  8. Clear manager and partner review points and follow up on any outstanding queries.
  9. Respond to client queries and concerns efficiently and professionally, dealing directly with senior management when necessary.
  10. Provide advice to clients and demonstrate knowledge of business issues.
  11. Provide a detailed analysis of time charged on every assignment to facilitate billing and future planning.

Requirements:

  1. ACA, ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  2. External auditing experience, particularly in compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISAs).
  3. Experience with statutory audits and half-year review engagements in compliance with UK Auditing Standards, from planning to completion.
  4. At least 18 months of experience working in a UK audit firm, with up-to-date exposure to IFRS and listed clients for a Big 4 or Challenger firm.
  5. Right to work in the UK is preferred; however, sponsorship can be provided for those with the right experience.
