Job Title: Financial Controller

Location: Berkshire / West London

Salary: 55,000 – 62,000 per annum (DOE)

Are you an experienced and qualified Financial Controller looking to join a fast–paced, growing company? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a confident, detail–oriented finance professional to take ownership of financial operations in a well–established wholesale and distribution business.

This is a hands–on finance role ideal for someone with strong experience in financial reporting, payroll, VAT, and team management who thrives in a dynamic SME environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
2. Complete balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
3. Manage payroll processing, P11Ds, HMRC submissions, and statutory reporting.
4. Submit accurate VAT returns and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
5. Deliver cashflow forecasting, daily financial updates and key business insights.
6. Support with budgeting, forecasting, and decision–making analysis.
7. Assist with year–end audit prep and liaise with external auditors.
8. Lead and mentor a small finance team.

Requirements:

1. ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
2. Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Finance Manager.
3. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
4. Excellent knowledge of UK payroll, VAT, and HMRC regulations.
5. Strong leadership and organisational skills.
6. Previous experience in wholesale, distribution, or FMCG sectors desirable.
