Chief Mechanic / Number One Mechanic - F1 Evolution

We have a new opportunity to be part of our F1 Evolution team, which is the Aston Martin F1 TPC ("testing previous cars") Programme, in the role of Chief Mechanic / Number One Mechanic.

Purpose:

Enable the F1 Evolution Team members to work in the most efficient way possible, ensuring the race cars are delivered in a safe and reliable condition for all team events. To actively contribute to the Team’s primary objective of consistently being a top three team in the FIA Constructor’s Championship.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise mechanics/technicians to ensure work meets standards and deadlines.
2. Organize car crew workload and manage appraisals, recovery/leave days via HR system.
3. Coordinate travel needs with F1 Evolution leader and Travel Team.
4. Create and distribute event timing schedules.
5. Update lifing info for cars and communicate with Engineering/Spares Coordinator.
6. Produce and send event shortage lists to Spares Coordinator.
7. Ensure cars are built to Race Engineer specifications and high standards.
8. Oversee garage procedures, set-up, and pack-down.
9. Ensure radio protocol is followed and manage brake wear documentation.
10. Communicate with factory, trackside, and supplier teams.
11. Maintain and update build specs, manuals, and check sheets.
12. Report issues to F1 Evolution leadership promptly.
13. Attend reliability and build meetings, manage damaged parts and pit equipment jobs.
14. Lead crew briefings and travel to all events.
15. Act professionally, model Racing GREEN values, and enhance personal skills.
16. Perform additional duties as required.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

1. Excellent knowledge of race cars and setups.
2. Strong understanding of race team needs before, during, and after events.
3. Proficient with allocations, drawings, and schedules.
4. Experience as a No. 2 mechanic or similar in F1 or high-level motorsport.
5. Ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and suppliers.
6. Willingness to travel as needed for race team duties.
7. Self-motivated, able to inspire others, and thrive in challenging environments.
8. Confident under pressure, delivering results within deadlines.
9. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
10. Innovative, flexible, and analytical in tackling challenges.
11. Results-driven with confident decision-making.
