About The Role

Birmingham Children’s Trust aspires to be the best place to practice social work and associated services with children and families, to make a real difference to the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children.

Birmingham Children Trust are looking for two Senior Practitioners in Education to join our established and highly esteemed Practice Academy Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative and aspirational approach, leading the way for social work development.

The Practice Academy is now in its 5th year successfully bringing together all learning and development opportunities for social workers pre and post qualification across the Trust. Its team ethos brings together all learners to create a network of practice, development and support.

We continue on our journey to grow our own social workers, recruiting and supporting over 400 newly qualified social workers in the last five years.

The Academy team ensures that all our social work students and apprentices receive high quality placement opportunities that equip them with knowledge and skills required of newly qualified social workers ready to thrive on our ASYE programme.

As a Senior Practitioner in Education, you will provide a leading role in improving the quality of professional social work practice across the breadth of the case work cycle to children, young people and their families. The role will entail working with, supporting and encouraging development of a range of learners on all our social work development programmes.

The successful applicants will require:

  1. Social Work Qualification
  2. Experience of Supervising and Supporting Social Work Practitioners
  3. Have the full PEPS award required of experienced Practice Educators
  4. Know what good social work practice looks like to quality assure, support and guide others
  5. Have experience of supporting and training social workers in learning programmes such as ASYE would be beneficial
