JOB TITLE: Cleaning Operative Days & Nights

LOCATION: Darlington MME1

SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on 4 off - 12 hours shift (11 hours paid), days 0700-1900, nights 1900-0700

WORKING HOURS: 38.5 hours per week

PAY RATE: Days - £11.84 per hour

Nights - £12.34 per hour

Overview of Job Description

ABM Facility Services UK are looking to recruit Cleaning/Waste Operative’s on a full-time permanent basis for a high-profile client within the Darlington area. The successful candidate will need to display the ability to work as part of a team in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment that provides janitorial and waste removal services for the client.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Working within our great janitorial and waste removal team in a warehouse environment, carrying out duties effectively and efficiently.
  2. Duties will include providing a high janitorial service both internally and externally in welfare areas, such as washrooms, break rooms, the canteen, social areas (reception, offices, locker room), and production areas (main production floor).
  3. Handling waste generated on site via the approved waste streams and ensuring that this is ready for transportation.
  4. Using both walk-behind and ride-on sweepers and scrubber-dryers, along with other cleaning equipment. Ensuring that all equipment is kept clean, well maintained and in a safe working order.
  5. Being responsive to any spillages and callouts from the clients on site team.
  6. Communicating effectively with your team and line manager.
  7. Wearing protective clothing (PPE) and complying with Health & Safety legislation and policies.
  8. The post holder will need to be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team and exhibit great communication skills.
  9. The successful candidate will be required to undergo full training on all cleaning methods and cleaning equipment.

Person Specification:

  1. Satisfactory response from Disclosure Board at a basic level and knowledge of health and safety requirements or a willingness to learn.
  2. Knowledge of cleaning methods or a willingness to learn.
  3. High attention to detail.
  4. An ability to work under pressure.
  5. Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  6. An ability to quickly adapt to a very busy operational environment.
  7. A reliable and flexible approach to work.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  9. This is an active role that requires you to be physically fit.

Essential:

  1. Willingness to participate in the company’s screening processes including completing a basic DBS check and submitting to random drug and alcohol testing.

Desirable:

  1. First Aid at Work certificate.
