Our business spans across physical and financial markets, and we are now looking for a skilled Metals Trader to enhance our trading strategies by managing financial risk around our physical cathode and concentrates.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Metals Trader with a strong background in derivatives and options trading. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of risk-taking experience and a proven track record in metal options trading. You will be responsible for trading financial instruments to optimize our physical positions, mitigate risk, and capitalize on market opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade metal options and derivatives to hedge and enhance returns on our physical cathode and concentrates positions.
  • Develop and execute proprietary trading strategies in base metals, leveraging market insights and quantitative models.
  • Actively manage risk exposure, ensuring compliance with internal risk limits and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with physical trading, risk management, and operations teams to align financial trading strategies with business objectives.
  • Analyze global market trends, supply-demand fundamentals, and macroeconomic indicators to make informed trading decisions.
  • Optimize structured trades, including spreads, volatility, and cross-commodity strategies.
  • Engage with counterparties, brokers, and exchanges to enhance market access and execution efficiency.

Key Requirements:

  • 5+ years of risk-taking experience in metals trading, with a strong focus on derivatives and options.
  • A proven track record in metal options trading is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of financial hedging strategies, volatility trading, and market-making.
  • Experience trading around physical metal flows, preferably in cathodes and concentrates.
  • Solid understanding of risk management principles, P&L drivers, and position limits.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in trading platforms and analytical tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, Python, Excel).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives.
  • The opportunity to work with a global leader in mining and metals trading.
  • Exposure to diverse markets and complex financial instruments.
  • A dynamic and entrepreneurial trading environment with growth potential.
