Job description

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA), ideally with additional experience in Laser safety. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of friendly, experienced, and professional staff providing radiation safety and imaging physics services across the North East and Cumbria.


Consideration will be given for appointment at Band 7 for candidates within 18 months on RPA certification.

Appointment as RPA / LPA to one or more NHS Trusts and/or private organisations.


Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the delivery of teaching and training within the Unit.
  2. Contribute to the delivery of radiation safety services.
  3. Perform a range of advanced healthcare science activities.
  4. Provide highly specialist advice and training to staff within own area and other professionals.
  5. Actively involved in research and development projects.
  6. Supervise and train less experienced staff and trainees.

Our staff oversee over 6,500 patient contacts every day, delivering high standards of healthcare from the following sites:

  1. Freeman Hospital
  2. Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI)
  3. Health Innovation Neighbourhood
  4. Newcastle Dental Hospital
  5. Newcastle Fertility Centre
  6. Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Cumbria
  7. Northern Genetics Service
  8. Cramlington Manor Walks
