Bid Writer (Main Contractor | New Build Residential) | Permanent | Hertfordshire

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + car / car allowance / package

Location: Hertfordshire

I have an excellent opportunity for a Bid Writer to join one of the South East’s leading Main Contractors on a permanent basis, based out of their offices near Barnet, Hertfordshire.

The company has been operating for approximately 50 years and has earned a great reputation in the industry for delivering quality housing projects across the South East. They carry out new build, refurbishment, and regeneration schemes; they are community-focused and believe in building safely and delivering environmentally sustainable buildings for their clients.

They are looking for a Bid Writer to come on board and support the Bid Team which comprises a Bid Coordinator, Senior Bid Writer, and Head of Business Submissions. This is a great opportunity to join an excellent company and be a key player within the Bid Team.

Key Objectives:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work within a structured team to actively seek out and secure business opportunities.
  2. Successfully respond to OJEU notices, invitations to tender, and development bids through the production of high-quality PQQs, ITT submissions, and bid documents that are tailored to suit the specific requirements of the enquiry from clients.
  3. Enhance the profile and reputation of the business to ensure new business opportunities.
  4. Work as part of a structured Business Development team and assist in the production of supplementary marketing documentation to illustrate the capabilities of the business.
  5. Keep abreast of any market opportunities and strategies that need to be recognised and pursued by the business as part of out-bid and tender submission strategies.
  6. Work as part of a structured team to initiate new strategies within out-bid and tender submissions in response to the demands of the private and affordable housing markets as well as the healthcare and education construction sectors.
  7. Recognise clients’ needs within both the private and social housing markets and use this insight when preparing bids and tender submissions in order to achieve successful outcomes.
  8. Be creative and original in thinking, in order to develop innovative, commercial solutions.
  9. Prepare concise documents that look attractive, deliver the message, and win the bid.
  10. Prepare and make presentations to key clients, developing strong relationships and being seen as a credible member of a professional team, having the technical ability to support the bid.
  11. Liaise with Business Development department, Construction Managers, Design Coordinators, Estimators, and Buyers to develop successful bid and tender documents.
  12. Ensure that all publication processes and systems (including the computerisation of all functions) are compatible with bid and tender submission documents ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  13. Attend training and skills improvement courses as and when identified through appraisals in line with the responsibilities and objectives of the Bid Writer's role.
  14. Audit and review submission documents and together with other team members, maintain a library of current technical and commercial information.
  15. Act as a catalyst of the Bid and Tender Submissions team in the challenge of working cohesively and positively towards project objectives.
  16. Arrange feedback meetings with clients and employer’s agents and disseminate information within the Bid Submission team.
  17. Identify and take advantage of all opportunities to promote the activities of the company and to participate in the challenge of seeking new business opportunities.
  18. Be similarly demanding as the Directors of the company in the quest for improvements in the company’s overall performance and standing with clients and consultants.
