Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Installing, modifying and maintaining various electrical systems and components such as electrical wiring, electrical panels, switches, switch boxes, receptacles, conduits, circuits, feeders, transformers, motors, drives, starters, relays, generators, lighting, alarms, etc. using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Performing wire pulls and connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
- Inspecting electrical systems, equipment and components in order to identify any hazards/defects and necessary repairs and to ensure compliance with electrical codes.
- Testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical problems, failures or malfunctioning electrical systems and components, such as electric motors, electric controls, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, fire alarms, etc., using testing equipment and related tools.
- Analyzing and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems.
- Coordinating with assigned Foreman and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
- Maintaining and submitting all required written materials, including, but not limited to time cards, work orders, etc.
- Working in accordance with the electrical code and any applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
- Maintaining any assigned vehicle, equipment, and/or tool in an organized, professional and cleanly manner.
- Maintaining G&S tools and vehicles in a clean and safe manner.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
The successful applicant will have the following:
Experience
- At least one (1) year of experience working in the electrical trade considered an asset.
- Experience in the construction industry considered an asset.
Education/Licenses/Certificates
- Registered electrical (309A) training agreement considered an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation required.
- Fire alarm certification considered an asset.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent required.
- Post-secondary education in electrical techniques or related field considered an asset.
- Working at heights certificate considered an asset.
- Standard first aid/CPR certificate considered an asset.
- WHMIS certificate considered an asset.
- Lift certification considered an asset.
- Arc flash training considered an asset.
- Electrical Safety Code update courses considered an asset.
- Asbestos training.
- Confined spaces training.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade.
- Strong knowledge of the electrical code.
- Working knowledge of the construction industry.
- Working knowledge of related sub trades.
Skills

Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor working environment with regular exposure to construction sites and various weather and temperature conditions.
- Manual dexterity required to effectively use and operate all required equipment and tools.
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb ladders.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects, exceeding 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work productively under limited supervision.
- Overtime and travel may be required.
