Job Summary

The Accounting Assistant provides support to the Finance team and performs a variety of tasks such as NIB & NHIB payments, reconciliation, and invoicing. Employee shall provide services as Accounting Assistant of the Carnival Corporation's affiliate, Grand Turk Cruise Center, located in Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Job Requirements

  • At least three years' experience in accounting or related field preferred
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Administrative and organizational skills
  • Strong communication, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer skills with a knowledge of common bookkeeping and spreadsheet programs
  • Degree or certifications in accounting or similar field is preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operation of the module Accounts Payable
  • Ensure all invoices from suppliers are signed and coded to the right accounts in compliance with policies and procedures of the Company.
  • Preparation of requisitions for payment to suppliers are made fortnightly for review of Accounting Manager.
  • Preparation of timely monthly payments to the NHIP, NIB, and other reports and payments of government agencies.
  • Control and custody of petty cash fund.
  • Preparing NIB & NHIB Monthly online statements for filing with the statutory Board.
  • Responsible for the Receipt Book and payments received from Tenants/Others.
  • Responsible for auditing and balancing the Flowrider Sales.
  • Responsible for auditing and balancing the Snorkel Shack Sales.
  • Auditing the Warehouse Inventory and Fuel Logs.
  • Prepare biweekly payroll records.
  • Reconciliations of petty cash accounts.
  • Ensuring all documents are filed correctly.
  • Prepare expense reports for Staff and Port Director and submit it to the Senior Accountant of GPDDG for approvals in payment requisitions.
  • Prepare all journal entries related to their responsibilities.
  • Any additional task as assigned by the Accounting Manager and General Manager.
  • The Accounting Assistant reports directly to the Accounting Manager of GTCC.
  • Conforms to the policies and procedures established by Grand Turk Cruise Center.
  • Provide superior customer service and represent the Nation of Turks and Caicos Islands in a manner which upholds the highest standards.
  • Any other business-related tasks as directed or requested by the Employer from time to time.

Language Requirements

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
