Job Title: Territory Sales / Business Development Manager
Location: East Anglia, UK
Reporting to: Sales Director

We serve a broad range of clients in life sciences, including research institutions, biobanks, pharmaceutical companies, and contract research organisations (CRO).

Key Job Function
The main focus of this role is to promote and sell the company’s product range, working to increase revenue and profitability through strategic sales activities. You will be responsible for developing new business, as well as nurturing existing client relationships within the designated market sectors.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Engage in face-to-face sales meetings and conduct product demonstrations when possible.
  2. Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities (approximately 80% of the role).
  3. Take ownership of customer accounts and manage relationships within your territory.
  4. Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure their needs are understood and met.
  5. Monitor sales performance and manage any gaps against targets.
  6. Keep sales pipeline updated and manage CRM records as needed.
  7. Provide insights into market trends and developments.
  8. Confidently reach out to potential customers, follow up on leads, and manage email marketing campaigns.
  9. Arrange and conduct remote meetings to introduce the company and generate leads.
  10. Lead product demonstrations and follow up to close sales, maximising each opportunity.
  11. Organise product exhibitions or demonstrations at client sites, where applicable, and ensure all leads are followed up effectively.
  12. Understand client requirements and present suitable solutions.
  13. Stay updated on industry trends, becoming a valuable source of information for both customers and the company.
  14. Provide feedback on customer needs and suggest strategies to enhance sales and marketing efforts.
  15. Reinforce the company’s position as a trusted supplier of high-quality products and services.

The ideal candidate will represent the company in a professional manner and act in the best interests of the organisation during all customer interactions.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant scientific field (Life Sciences or similar).
  • Practical laboratory experience (preferably with sample handling or storage systems).
  • Full driving licence with the willingness to travel regularly within the territory.
  • Comfortable conducting professional video calls and product demonstrations.
  • Willing to stay away overnight for occasional meetings or trade events.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and results-driven.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to present effectively.
  • Career-minded, resilient, and quick to adapt.
  • Comfortable making cold calls and developing new customer accounts.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
