Job description

Monkhouse Schoolwear Specialists was established in 1938 and is one of the country’s largest multi-channel retailers of school uniform. It works together with its sister brand SWI, which provides a high service online only proposition to schools.

What role does a Supply Chain Analyst play in the business?

This role forms a pivotal part of our Buying & Merchandising team who are overall responsible for guaranteeing the accuracy of data, to ensure that we have the right stock in the right place at the right time. They go the extra mile to deliver outstanding customer service to all key stakeholders both internally and externally, contributing to our purpose of giving every child the chance to shine.

What does the role entail?

In this role you will be assisting and reporting to the Analyst/Merchandiser and responsible for consolidating the stock requirements for schools, and product availability to assist the Analyst/Merchandiser with their forecasting. You will be responsible for day to day management of stock, ensuring regular min/max replenishment reviews are carried out. You will be comfortable pulling data together for the Analyst/Merchandiser to assist with their forecasting requirements. You will maintain accurate data on the system and liaise with internal DCs, suppliers and store colleagues whilst prioritising your workload to keep any daily phone and email queries within a timely SLA.

More specifically:

  • Analyse sales figures, customer demand and trends to anticipate product needs and plan stock.
  • Monitor stock movement and consider markdowns, promotions, price changes, clear outs etc.
  • Oversee store range plans and maintain stock availability.

What personal attributes are required?

  • A keen eye for detail (experience of stock management/order processing/merchandising in the retail or school wear sectors is essential).
  • Naturally inquisitive with a logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
  • Knowledgeable in data extraction and intermediate understanding of Excel (and Power BI is desirable).
  • Effectively using data and school specific insight to ‘tell a story’.
  • Able to prioritise workload to fulfil various commitments simultaneously.
  • A positive, team focused and encouraging individual who takes pride in playing their part in the success of the business.

What skills are needed?

  • Confident in identifying and maintaining optimum stock levels, to ensure the correct replenishment across stores and online.
  • Proficient in pulling data.
  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Intermediate Excel skills including formulas, lookups, and pivots.

Professional expertise

  • Able to spot and mitigate against potential issues, shortages and setbacks.
  • Experience in stock management.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise own workload.
