Rockstar Games is on the lookout for a talented software developer who possesses a passion for the craft of software development. The ideal candidate would be someone who strives to enhance and streamline the workflows of our users, to increase people’s ability to work efficiently day-to-day.

This is a full-time, permanent and in-office position based in Rockstar’s state-of-the-art game development studio in Edinburgh, Scotland.

WHAT WE DO
  • We create and maintain software tools that are used by staff across all departments and disciplines, to support the production and development of Rockstar Games.
  • Our primary responsibility is maintaining and evolving Rockstar’s internal task tracking and project management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Write quality, maintainable, and testable code, following the Information Systems team’s coding guidelines, to fix bugs and implement new features.
  • Work closely with users and UX designers to gather requirements and debug problems.
  • Accurately and effectively communicate with other team members across our global studios, giving meaningful updates on task progress, any issues encountered, suggestions for improvements etc.
  • Participation in the code review process, offering guidance and feedback to less experienced members of the team.
  • Helping to ensure the continued stability and reliability of our products and systems.
  • Helping to ensure a high quality and consistent user experience throughout our tools.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least one year of experience developing desktop based applications.
SKILLS
  • Good understanding of .NET/C#
  • Familiarity with WPF and XAML.
  • Knowledge of the MVVM application architecture.
  • Experience using Figma, or similar design platform.
  • Strong UX development skills.
  • An ability to consider the wider architecture of a system, focusing on the bigger picture, rather than individual tasks.
  • Ability to work well within a cross-studio team.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Strong communication skills.
PLUSES

Please note that these are desirable skills and are not required to apply for the position.

  • Experience writing and debugging asynchronous code.
  • Understanding of REST API design best practices.
  • Experience writing unit tests, or with test-driven development.
  • Passion for development and games, especially Rockstar products.
  • Familiarity with Java and Spring Framework.
  • Familiarity with Hibernate, or similar ORM.
  • Familiarity with MySQL / relational databases.
