Job description

Can you help shape a service of caring and compassionate professionals to deliver positive change for our children and families?

Join a team that feels like home, come and be part of the positive.

Our Purpose

The North East Lincolnshire Community Educational Psychology Service is deeply committed to making a positive impact in our community through our work as applied Educational Psychologists within a Local Authority. Under genuinely exciting new management both within the psychology service and under the vision of our new Director and Assistant Director within Children Services, we are seeking to expand our warm, skilled and welcoming team.

Our newly developed EMBRACE framework guides the actions we take as a team towards supporting the wider Local Authority vision of 'Our Children, Our Future', both within our core statutory duties and our traded offer. This reflects the emphasis we place on connection and a sense of belonging within our team, and as part of our strong, established relationships with strategic partners. We place a strong emphasis on using our psychological skills and knowledge to emphasise strong, supportive relationships, person-centred principles, inclusivity, and genuine partnerships.

We are seeking qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and those who are soon to qualify, that can support us in shaping and extending our service, contributing to a consultation-led, person-centred, inclusive model, including offering training, supervision and therapeutic assessment and intervention.

The Role

Working within this team, with these people, following this ethos feels like home. You will be part of a team which is expanding and developing exciting and innovative ways of working, integral to the wider LA vision and values. Joining a small team of already well-respected psychologists and benefitting from excellent working relationships with colleagues across our area, you will contribute to shaping our psychology service.

You will provide high quality psychological advice and guidance as part of the statutory aspects of our role, as well as shaping a service which delivers traded work in the form of support to schools, through project work and a wide training offer such as ELSA, National Autistic Programmes, Emotion Coaching and Relational Approaches. This is in partnership with our colleagues in the wider Education and Inclusion team, alongside our Social Care partners and with our Virtual School.

You will have access to offices located in Grimsby Town Centre where you will have the opportunity to work with and alongside other services such as Public Health, Social Care and our Family Hubs. Those relationships are a key strength offered to you as a Local Authority employed EP.

This role is a hybrid role, with a mixture of working on and off site, promoting and encouraging a work life balance. CPD, supervision and opportunities for growth and development are all part of the offer if you join us here, and autonomy is highly valued.

We welcome applications from professional colleagues who are looking for either full time or part time opportunities to practice within our service.

About You

Please consider making an application if you are:

  1. An Educational Psychologist who places children and young people at the centre of your practice. We welcome applications both from experienced EPs and EPs who are nearing completion of their Educational Psychology Doctorate training.
  2. Creative, flexible and able to focus on identifying concerns and solutions, with a strong focus on understanding lived experiences and working in a values-driven way.
  3. Able to work successfully with multiple agencies, and develop positive relationships with all sectors of our community.
  4. Able to contribute to the ongoing developing of our service, including offering coaching and supervision, nurturing aspiring psychologists and reflecting on ways that we can best work with our communities.
  5. Proactive in developing and sharing your knowledge and skills.
  6. Able to travel to the Grimsby offices and to different settings throughout North East Lincolnshire.
