Job Title:

Pay Rate:
£22.55 an hour PAYE

Hours:
36 hours Mon to Fri (09:00 AM - 05:00 PM)

2 Month Contract

Location:
HYBRID WORKING - 3 Days a week office based in Bernard Weatherill House, Croydon

Description:
The role will include:

  1. Providing door-to-door intensive one-to-one support and outreach work by delivering practical hands-on education, training and employment information, advice and guidance help and support to post-16 people who are open to the 16+ Team for Care Experienced Youth People (CEYP) who are either NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or at risk of becoming NEET.
  2. Re-engaging and sustaining youth back into EET (education, employment and training) in order to reduce the risks of negative outcomes for them.
  3. Screening and assessing ETE goals and aspirations; gathering education history and reports from schools, colleges and training providers. Offering suitable ETE opportunities, daily recording and evidencing of face-to-face contacts and interventions e.g. telephone, emails etc. offered on database. Preparing monthly and/or quarterly post-16 ETE reports. Working in partnership with Social Workers and Personal Advisers, Specialist Workers and other professionals. Undertaking informal mentoring; working holistically with the youth, parents/carers and ETE providers. Carrying out home visits and accompanying youth to ETE providers and interviews, recruitment job fairs etc.
  4. Delivering youth workshops CV creation, interview readiness and effective job searching.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Managing a Post 17 NEET caseload, including provision of advice, guidance and signposting to appropriate provisions that are commensurate with youth's aspirations, qualifications and skills.
  2. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of work undertaken with youth using the case management system.
  3. Working closely with a range of external agencies including FE Colleges, training providers, employers and community projects with a view to successful integration of people into education, training or employment.
  4. Developing constructive relationships and communicating with other colleagues, agencies/professionals.
  5. Participating in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.

Essential Knowledge:

  1. An understanding of vulnerability, risk and needs of care experienced youth.
  2. Good knowledge of statutory careers guidance and post-16 participation requirements.
  3. Good knowledge of the NEET (not in education, employment or training) agenda and strategies for improving and sustaining engagement of 16-25-year-olds.
  4. Knowledge of local provision for 16-25-year-olds (beneficial).
  5. Understanding of the diverse nature of Croydon's residents and implications for services to 16-25-year-olds.
  6. Advanced qualification or comparable experience in the field of 16-25 education, training or careers advice.
