Education Safeguarding Senior Officer

Permanent

Grade 5 £41,511- £49,764 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity review

Working 36.5 hours per week.

The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

Are you passionate about safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the education system? Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Children and Families Directorate as Education Safeguarding Senior Officers. In this vital role, you will provide operational oversight and ensure the effective delivery of safeguarding services within schools and other educational settings. If you have substantial experience in education, social care, or child protection, and a commitment to safeguarding, we want to hear from you!

As an Education Safeguarding Senior Officer, you will play a crucial role in responding to safeguarding concerns, managing critical incidents, and ensuring that children out of sight of education are appropriately safeguarded. You will oversee the work of Education Safeguarding Coordinators, produce and analyse data to identify trends, and contribute to statutory safeguarding processes. Your responsibilities will include delivering school safeguarding improvements, managing escalated cases, and representing the Education Safeguarding team in multi-agency audits and meetings. Your efforts will help maintain high standards of practice and ensure the safety and well-being of children in our community.

We are looking for candidates with a degree and significant management and leadership experience in services for children and families. You should have a thorough understanding of the safeguarding legislative framework, experience working with vulnerable children and families, and a track record of making a difference for young people. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be producing reports, delivering presentations, and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders. A commitment to teamwork, social inclusion, and continuous professional development is also key for this role.
