Department: Aston Villa Foundation and Community Partnerships - Primary School Sport and Education Team

Hours of Work: Full Time, 35 Hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Villa Park and various primary school locations

1. The Department

The Aston Villa Foundation is the official Charity of Aston Villa Football Club and prides itself in being innovative in its approach to the club being used as a ‘Force for Good’. Our Primary School Sport and Education department is striving to be at the forefront of supporting schools across the city through innovative curriculums and bespoke delivery. The department oversees our Primary School Sport and Education programmes that aim to engage and inspire children and teachers across the National Curriculum using the power of the club, football and the Premier League.

2. The Role

The Education Officer will deliver on all aspects of our Primary School Sport & Education programme, covering several areas of the Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, including physical education, numeracy, literacy, health and wellbeing. Within this part of the role, you will deliver high quality lessons in different primary schools across the academic year, linking the delivery to the National Curriculum and using Premier League Primary Stars and Aston Villa branding to engage learners. You will also support teachers to increase their confidence, knowledge and skills in delivering high quality physical education lessons. This role also includes delivery of our eye health initiative ‘Villa Vision’ within primary school settings, alongside a specialist eye health team. The initiative aims to educate pupils about the importance of looking after their eyes, as well as offering free and funded vision screening.

3. The Person

We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual with the ability to create, develop and implement high quality, varied and creative educational projects and activities. You will have demonstrable experience of working in a school and/or community sports organisation and have knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2. You will also have experience of delivering educational workshops within different environments and working with whole classes and small group interventions, as well as being capable of mentoring and supporting adults in a coaching or education capacity.
