£419.25 daily rate - PAYE
£530.00 daily rate – Umbrella
6 Months
Bristol / Hybrid – 4 days per week on site

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of capital delivery in educational settings and must have a successful track record of managing a significant capital programme with a complex stakeholder landscape.


Responsibilities – what we need the successful candidates to do

In the next phase of this programme, our appointed candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  1. Establishing and maintaining appropriate governance for the programme, including progress reporting to the board
  2. Ensuring the programme team and the project managers are working to consistent approaches in line with PMO practices and principles
  3. Responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the programme incl. manage and lead the programme team and suppliers
  4. Updating and maintaining key programme controls (e.g. plan, RAID log, budget management) using Our Clients project management software (PM3)
  5. Provides visibility of the interconnectivity between projects and programme dependencies
  6. Providing visibility of the overall status of the programme and escalating risks and issues at pace, reporting progress through to Director of Education and programme board
  7. Ensuring full handover completed from current programme manager (Head of Major Projects)
  8. Leads on translation of client needs into deliverable projects and packages of work, and controls structured entry into the programme
  9. Bring together a consistent, simple view of the overarching status of the Programme’s delivery and particularly whether delivery of school spaces is on track or/and where delays to achievement

Knowledge, skills and experience

In terms of the specific assignment, the successful candidate will particularly be able to demonstrate:

  1. Development and management of construction projects and programmes
  2. Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams including construction PMs
  3. Significant experience of managing programmes, and controlling change/additions into programme scope
  4. Ability to control and monitor budgets to achieve financial targets set out – including forecasting and monitoring
  5. Familiarity with public sector procurement and standard forms of construction contracts
  6. Experience in managing and securing relevant statutory, regulatory third-party and other approvals
  7. Knowledge of health and safety law, duties, and responsibilities in a construction setting.

Ideally the candidate will also have:

  1. Experience of Education service and Education Capital delivery
