Your new company
Birmingham City Council is looking for candidates with an Education or Social Work background that can visit homeschooled children to track progress and assess their home environment for the Elective Home Education Team.
Your new role
The role involves undertaking checks to assist in the process of ensuring that home-educated children referred are not at risk of any harm and to escalate any concerns that may emerge promptly and appropriately. You will be communicating this back to the Elective Home Education Team.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will need to have the transferable skills to assess the education that is being provided for a child that is being homeschooled. You will need to have experience of working with children in a social care or school setting and be familiar with EHE Guidance for Local Authorities and be able to display this at interview. Questions at interview are designed to extract the transferable skills you can bring to the Elective Home Education team and the role.
