Permanent contract | £24,305 to £26,297 per annum (Scale L) | 18.5 hours per week | County Hall, Norwich
We offer a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers/Occupational Therapists (grade J and above), Practice Consultants and Team Managers new to Norfolk County Council. Amount to be repaid in full should you leave within two years of employment.
A rare opportunity is now available for a Team Manager in Norfolk's Emergency Duty Team.
Our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) provides support to both Adult Social Care and Childrens Services in response to emergencies that cannot wait until the next working day. No two days are the same and working across services offers you variation and the ability to make a real difference to people in crisis, whilst building on your existing Social Work and management skills and knowledge.
As a Team Manager, you will supervise and appraise EDT team members including Practice Consultants/AMHPs, Assistant Practitioners and Call Handlers, ensuring they have access to the knowledge, skills and training required to carry out their work efficiently. The nature of the work requires practitioners to have the skills and confidence to work autonomously and the managers role is essential in achieving this.
You will also undertake duty manager shifts which involve managing the duty team to safely deal with Mental Health Assessments, child in need and child protection work, adult safeguarding, and working with families and vulnerable people experiencing a social care crisis. Working autonomously, you will support team members to triage, risk assess and prioritise referrals, working with other agencies in the voluntary and statutory sectors to deliver targeted support.
You will need to be a Qualified Social Worker with five years post qualifying experience but could have a background in either Adult Social Care or Childrens Services. Approved Mental Health Profession (AMHP) status is essential as the role involves providing AMHP supervision.
Our service operates 24/7 to ensure our service users and other professionals can reach us when needed. Managers follow an 3-week rota pattern organised in advance. The rota also provides some protected time for training, administration and other tasks, also enabling you to plan ahead and maintain a healthy work-life balance. The shift patterns vary across days and evenings and there is a requirement to be on call overnights when duty manager. There will be a requirement to work a minimum of one weekend shift every three weeks.
You will also have access to support through our Senior Management Team 24/7 and from the EDT Service Manager.
