The Job Profile

Simon & Schuster UK’s Adult Editorial is looking for an Editorial Director to join their fiction team.

Reporting into the Deputy Publishing Director, Adult Fiction, the Editorial Director, Science Fiction Fantasy will build a list of profitable and commercially successful SFF, Romantasy and Horror, in line with market trends.

The Job Role

The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping the SFF part of the Fiction list, acquiring titles that align with commercial objectives, growth, profitability, and quality of publishing.

The Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience dealing with high-profile authors and their agents. They will need demonstrable experience in editing bestselling SFF, Romantasy, and Horror, an understanding of the fiction landscape, and an exceptionally high standard of author care. They will have experience in managing their own projects through the publishing process, applying creativity and strategy along with in-house experience of overseeing the entire publishing process of a book, from manuscript to publication.
