Alchemy is partnering with an established and successful contemporary art gallery in London, which is seeking to appoint an Editorial Content Manager.
Responsibilities for the role include:
Overseeing the creative process and writing/editing of content, utilised for press releases, previews, social media, and online exhibitions.
Collaborating with artists, studios, liaisons, and Digital and Communications management at the gallery to achieve quality results.
Creation and maintenance for artist biographies to populate artist pages and CVs on websites.
Managing, conducting research, and preparing sales dossiers and preview materials for exhibitions and art fairs.
Participating in writing applications for art fairs with the directors and artist liaisons.
Creating content for handouts and wall vinyls for the gallery.
Editing and proofreading all writing for the London location of the gallery.
Managing the website and other digital communications' written content., as well as digital invitations and newsletters, creating or revising written text, and overseeing all digital mailings.
Working on video material - communicating with the director, conducting Q&As and interviews with the artist, reviewing edits with the artist liaison, giving detailed feedback, and coordinating with the Head of Digital for London on the production brief, scheduling, and sign-off.
Requirements:
Background in art history, ideally with in-depth understanding of contemporary art.
Proven experience of working at a contemporary art institution or commercial gallery.
Academic proficiency, such as writing offers for artwork dossiers.
Outstanding English language ability, writing, and editing skills.
Capacity to create readable texts for various gallery objectives, such as press releases, wall text, newsletter articles, and website entries.
A keen sense of detail and solid proofreading abilities.
