Job description

The Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP) invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief for Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics (JPhysD). We are seeking a visionary leader with a passion for physics, who is enthusiastic about driving the journal forward and ensuring it continues to publish high-quality, impactful research.The starting date for this role is 01 January 2026.

About the Role

As Editor-in-Chief, you will collaborate with the IOPP journal team to set the strategic direction for JPhysD to expand its reach and impact within the global physics community. You will lead the Editorial Board, working closely with its members to identify key areas for growth, implement editorial initiatives, and achieve agreed aims.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead: Provide scientific guidance and editorial board leadership to ensure the journal's content is of the highest quality and relevance.
  • Advocate: Act as an ambassador for the journal, enhancing its status and visibility within the scientific community.
  • Innovate: Collaborate with the Editorial Board to develop new ideas and initiatives that reflect the evolving landscape of physics research.
