We seek a talented Book Editor to join our creative team and help shape the narrative of future bestsellers. If you have a keen eye for detail, a love for literature, and experience in editing, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Review and edit manuscripts for content, grammar, structure, and flow to ensure high-quality, polished work.
  2. Collaborate with authors to provide feedback and suggestions on how to enhance storytelling, tone, pacing, and character development.
  3. Work with the publishing team to ensure deadlines are met and the final product aligns with the company's editorial standards.
  4. Conduct thorough research to fact-check information where necessary and ensure accuracy in the content.
  5. Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication, including formatting and preparing materials for submission to agents, publishers, or production teams.
  6. Edit for consistency in style, tone, and language, following the company’s guidelines.
  7. Provide constructive feedback to authors, ensuring clarity, coherence, and appeal to target readers.
  8. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and innovations to help enhance the editorial process.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Journalism, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in book editing, with a portfolio showcasing previous work.
  3. Strong proficiency in grammar, punctuation, and language usage.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  6. Passion for reading and storytelling.
  7. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with authors and teams.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience in editing different genres (fiction, non-fiction, academic, etc.)
  2. Familiarity with publishing software (InDesign, Microsoft Word, etc.)
  3. Knowledge of SEO and digital publishing trends.
  4. Previous experience working with authors or literary agents.
