Tasks

Support the Commercial Project Management Team for a major tunnelling project in Manchester and provide robust commercial controlling reports and mechanisms to help achieve project targets and aligned to company’s internal directives, procedures and guidelines at multiple levels.

  • Project Financial Forecasting – In-charge of the various internal project forecast reports, done on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, using a combination of bespoke reports and an ERP system.
  • Short & Medium-Term Planning – In-charge of preparing the short- & medium-term planning as part of internal reporting requirements.
  • Cost Tracking Performance Analysis – In-charge of planned vs. actual cost, performance and results tracking in collaboration with Project Accounts, and Commercial Management teams.
  • Internal Commercial Controls & Compliance Checking – Implement and maintain robust internal controls and compliance checking to company standards in line with the company’s internal directives, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provide support and guidance to non-financial project stakeholders in relation to overall project performance and results.
  • Assist in educating non-financial staff on financial processes and policies that need to be followed as part of the group’s internal compliance requirement.
  • Participate in asset management as a key stakeholder like tracking of stocks/inventory & surplus materials.
  • Maintain updated cost to employ data for all project employees for various purposes like salary recharges to other projects/business units.
  • Preparation of standard internal project commercial controlling reports, planned vs. actual cost reports, asset and inventory reports, or any ad-hoc reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of staff charge rates for proper cost allocation between cost centers, inter-project collaboration and external charge purposes.
  • Work with Project / Business Unit / Subdivision Commercial Controllers to ensure robust site reporting.
  • Preparation of bespoke financial and/or commercial controlling reports as requested by the Project Management Team.
  • Provides back-up support to project accounting and other commercial teams as required for functional redundancy in support of the overall commercial success of the project.
  • Participate in internal and external financial audits and ensure proper close-out of observations, non-compliance, etc.
  • Closely coordinate with other commercial project teams like project accounts, procurement, QS, site stores, IT, office administration etc. and ensure that internal controls, policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Liaise and closely coordinate with the corporate (BRVZ) External Finance and Internal Accounting Teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a similar field / or equivalent of 5 years relevant finance or accounting experience in any industry.
  • CSCS Card (relevant type) – All roles are expected to have the relevant competency skills cards where site-based work is required.
  • 3 years team leader experience in a project-based finance/accounting team within the construction, infrastructure, or similar industry.
  • Software Proficiency: MS Office Suite: Intermediate; MS Excel: Intermediate to Advanced; Financial / Accounting Software: Intermediate.
  • Strong IT, communication and presentation skills.
  • Team-player and able to manage a team if required.
  • Self-motivated and able to work alone in a project mobilisation stage.
