Responsibilities:

  1. Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support, troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, working closely with the Incident management and escalation teams.
  2. Perform routine database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, migration, patches, and upgrades of database systems.
  3. Identify and resolve database performance issues, including tuning SQL queries, optimizing indexing, and implementing necessary database changes.
  4. Conduct ongoing monitoring and proactive management of database systems to ensure high availability and performance; support database backup and recovery activities, ensuring appropriate backup strategies and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  5. Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to provide database support for applications and projects.
  6. Provide operational support, including capacity planning, system performance analysis, and resource utilization monitoring.
  7. Develop and maintain documentation related to database administration procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
  8. Participate in an on-call rotation schedule to ensure 24/7 availability and response to critical incidents.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field.
  2. 3 to 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA or similar role, with expertise in database administration for large-scale systems. Knowledge of advanced database systems like PostgreSQL, Greenplum, Mongo DB, Cassandra would be a plus.
  3. Minimum of 3 years of experience in HA and DR.
  4. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Windows, Unix, or Linux.
  5. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their RDBMS databases.
  6. Proficiency in Shell script or PowerShell, SQL scripting, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  7. Familiarity with database monitoring and management tools. Datadog is preferable.
  8. Experience with database backup and recovery strategies and techniques.
  9. Knowledge of data modeling and database architecture principles.
  10. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  11. Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
