We have a fixed-term opportunity for a Research Associate to join a collaborative research team in the Malaria Epidemiology Unit, investigating the safety of antimalarials used in pregnancy. The successful candidate will lead reproductive/perinatal pharmacoepidemiology studies in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and contribute to advanced data analyses from a multi-centre prospective cohort study. Additionally, they will play a key role in the development of a pregnancy pharmacovigilance toolbox suitable for LMICs.

The position is part of the MiMBa (Malaria in Mothers and Babies) Pregnancy Exposure Registry, an initiative evaluating the safety of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapies (ACTs) during pregnancy. Working in Kenya and Burkina Faso, the project aims to provide critical safety data for malaria treatment options in early pregnancy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of a Pregnancy Pharmacovigilance Toolbox to support pharmacovigilance efforts in LMICs.
• Conduct systematic literature reviews and advanced data analyses to compile comprehensive pregnancy outcome datasets.
• Lead a scoping review on upcoming therapeutics for pregnancy and women of childbearing age in LMICs.
• Implement and oversee secondary data analyses of the MiMBa Pregnancy Exposure Registry.
• Develop and disseminate research outputs, including reports, peer-reviewed publications, and conference presentations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers.
• Contribute to grant proposals and identify funding opportunities to support new research projects.
