Risk Lawyer

An international law firm is looking for a Risk Lawyer to join their Risk & Compliance team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will already have some experience in legal Risk & Compliance or alternatively a fee earner with a data protection background looking to move into an in-house risk role.

The Risk Lawyer role involves providing risk-related advice, compliance guidance, and general support to the firm. The candidate will work closely with senior lawyers and compliance specialists to ensure the firm operates within a complex regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities for the Risk Lawyer role:

1. Act as the first point of escalation for team members handling compliance-related tasks.
2. Maintain breach logs and assist in regulatory reporting.
3. Monitor and manage the R&C inbox, responding to queries and triaging issues.
4. Provide risk-related insights and recommendations on internal projects.
5. Support senior R&C lawyers on key projects, including the Client Matter Inception project.
6. Assist in data protection matters, including handling data breaches, DSAR requests, and compliance queries in coordination with the Data Protection Manager.
7. Prepare materials for escalated decision-making by senior management (COLP/MLRO).
8. Offer guidance and support to Business Services teams and international offices on risk and compliance matters.

Qualifications:

1. 0-3 years PQE (or relevant experience in a Risk & Compliance team).
2. Proven experience within a compliance team in a law firm setting.
3. Knowledge of data protection legislation (preferred).
4. Experience in the insurance market or litigation matters is advantageous.
5. Familiarity with Intapp Open software is desirable.
