Project Manager, £34,000 to £40,000
Here at Human Appeal we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester. The role will be worked on a full-time basis from Office. You will join us on a full-time basis as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,000 to £40,000 per annum.
Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.
As Project Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in leading projects within the Global Communications department, ensuring the successful execution of content acquisition, team coordination, and project delivery. This position demands excellent leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving abilities, as well as a thorough understanding of communications and media processes within humanitarian or non-profit contexts. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager:
- Project Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and completion of content-related projects, ensuring they meet time, budget, and scope objectives.
- Team Coordination: Oversee and collaborate with internal teams (including Digital Marketing, PR, and Programme Leads) as well as regional teams to facilitate smooth content acquisition and alignment with overall communications strategies.
- Freelancer Management: Manage freelancers by developing detailed project briefs, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of content.
- Content Strategy: Define project objectives in alignment with communications goals and help shape storylines and narratives for various media platforms.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks, resolve issues promptly, and ensure contingencies are in place to prevent project delays.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all content and deliverables meet the organisation's quality standards and adhere to brand guidelines. Review and provide feedback on work submitted by freelancers and regional teams.
- Budget Oversight: Track project budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and provide regular financial updates to senior management.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for senior management, partners, and clients, providing timely updates on project progress and addressing any concerns or adjustments.
- Current Events Monitoring: Stay up to date with current events, ensuring projects and content remain timely and relevant, especially for emergency and crisis communications.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve project workflows, aiming for increased efficiency and effectiveness in content production.
What we are looking for in our Project Manager:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, Project Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, preferably within a humanitarian or non-profit context.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage external partners effectively.
- Content Management: Expertise in content acquisition, media project planning, and quality control.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make data-driven decisions.
- Adaptability: Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Passionate and knowledgeable about the international development sector.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Additional languages are desirable.
