The Project Engineer in the Rail / Construction Industry is responsible for supporting the planning, design, and execution of rail and other construction infrastructure projects. This role involves working closely with project managers, technical teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The Project Engineer will provide technical expertise, coordinate project activities, and support quality and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and design of rail infrastructure projects, including track, signaling, electrification, and civil works.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Support risk management and quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to oversee construction activities and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical input as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in the rail or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of rail systems, construction practices, and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with CAD software and rail-specific design tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards and other rail regulations.
Work Environment: The Project Engineer will split time between office settings and project sites, requiring flexibility and the ability to manage time effectively across different environments.
