We are delighted to be partnering with this world-leading insurance company that is seeking a Development Underwriter within its highly successful Financial Lines team.

This is arguably the most exciting insurer in the market right now; growing 20% year on year, and on track to double in size over the next 5 years. This company is well-renowned for providing innovative insurance solutions, and uses its ingenuity to insure risks that others can’t.

As Development Underwriter, you’ll be required to source new business opportunities within your region, underwriting Professional and Management risks within your defined underwriting authority. You’ll have a strong desire to be highly visible to brokers, encouraging development meetings and telephone contact. Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:

  1. Underwriting individual risks
  2. Identifying and securing scheme opportunities
  3. Attending networking events
  4. Providing input to the Head of Financial Lines reporting on broker activity and new business production

You’ll benefit from working for a company that has a truly entrepreneurial approach to underwriting, and a genuine desire to write business. For example, should you identify an attractive Financial Lines risk that is not usually underwritten by this division, you will have the opportunity to present your case to a panel for approval, as well as collaborating with other specialist teams across the business.

This is a company that is passionate about sharing the success, and rewarding its employees for their hard work. “We want to pay our Development Underwriters bigger and bigger bonuses”, says the Director, and in line with this, you will benefit from a highly attractive performance-related bonus scheme.

It's essential that you have a successful track record of developing new business within the Financial Lines arena. We will consider candidates from a range of backgrounds such as Professional Indemnity, D&O / Management Liabilities, or Tech (PI). Ideally, you will have experience in a broker-facing role, although we will consider applications from New Business / Trading Underwriters who are ready to step into a broking-facing role. Crucially, you will have a proven ability to win business whilst maintaining underwriting discipline, and as a company ambassador, you will possess first-class communication and client-management skills.

“I want to stress that this is NOT a dead-end underwriting job”, says the Director. “We are focused on retaining and developing our staff, and ultimately, there are many areas that this role could progress into, such as Technical, Leadership, Product Line Management, and much more.

You’ll be rewarded with an attractive basic salary (Negotiable, depending on experience), plus a market-leading bonus scheme and impressive corporate benefits, which include substantial pension contributions.
