Location: Hybrid (Office & Client Sites)
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000
Contract Type: Full-Time

My client, a well-established IT solutions provider, is looking for a Junior IT Project Engineer to join their growing team. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical expertise through hands-on experience, with a clear progression path into a senior engineering role.

The Role


This hybrid position combines onsite helpdesk support with professional services project delivery, ensuring a varied and engaging workload. Initially, you will work closely with senior engineers, shadowing them on projects to gain a deep understanding of technical implementations.

Key Responsibilities - Helpdesk & Onsite Support:


  1. Act as the primary onsite engineer for technical issues that cannot be resolved remotely.
  2. Provide direct support to clients, ensuring all IT-related problems are logged and managed efficiently.
  3. Escalate complex issues where necessary while maintaining clear communication with clients.
  4. Work with third-party suppliers and vendors as required.
  5. Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations and client interactions.

Key Responsibilities - Professional Services Engineering:


  1. Assist in delivering at least 1-2 IT infrastructure projects per month, increasing as your expertise grows.
  2. Work alongside project managers to ensure work is completed on time and within scope.
  3. Create detailed technical documentation, including Scopes of Work (SOW).
  4. Adapt to challenges during project implementation and provide agile solutions.
  5. Communicate effectively with internal teams and clients before, during, and after project completion.

Skills & Experience Required


  1. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  2. Minimum of 2 years' experience in IT support within a corporate or services environment.
  3. Hands-on experience with Windows 7/8/10, PC hardware troubleshooting, and MacOS support.
  4. Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange.
  5. Basic understanding of networking concepts such as VLANs, patching, and NTFS permissions.
  6. A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications (Not Essential):


  1. Experience working with Microsoft Server OS (2008/2012/2016).
  2. Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, N+, MS-900, MS-100, MS-101.
  3. Familiarity with Ubiquiti, Meraki, Netgear, and enterprise-level security solutions.
  4. Prior experience in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
